Our form of thinking at this age has been taught to us during our early years. Yes, negative thinking is taught, not voluntarily learned. Once we can meditate and reason, we can decide to shift our thinking to what we discover is a better form of thinking.
But life can get in the way. Disasters may stop our positive focus and wear us down. This is what happened to me. Sharing this with others when I was a child was painful because not everyone was supportive of me. I discovered whom I could share with and whom I couldn’t. But exposing your vulnerability is a choice that you can have more control over. There are so many sites online where you can access free mentoring and guidance when you can focus on this self-growth.
For a few decades, it was not possible for me to access the self-help. I was mentally not strong enough. I am passionate about reaching you, especially now that my mind is stronger. Use SEO (search engine optimization). Type in the keywords, and let the search engine take you to your choices. Give yourself the time to learn. Persevere. Get up after you’ve fallen down.
God or Allah loves us—simply meditating on this is a healing exercise. Think on what you want to change in your thoughts for your benefit. You are meant to be victorious over your circumstances. Truly, if I did it, so can you. Meditation is the time that you give to yourself to reflect in your thinking to be able to move forward. You know when the thoughts you have are depressing! Throw them out! Tell yourself, “No more!” Losing these useless thoughts takes great perseverance and effort, but it is worth it.
Don’t think I am repeating the same lesson over and over. Now I just did a fun thing here. The words “don’t think” are not registered by the Universe. What the Universe hears is, “I am repeating the same lesson over and over.” This little example is to point out what you may be doing that brings to you what you don’t want. When you think “I don’t want to be poor” or “I don’t want to be lacking anything,” the universe hears “I want to be poor” or “I want a lack on anything.” So shift your thinking to “I want to have abundance,” “I want to be rich,” “I want a better job,” or “I want to have more friends.” The point here is to leave out the word “don’t.”
We all deserve to be happy, to feel joy, to have abundance. Focus on these thoughts, and you will receive these. Again, God or Allah loves you. There are verses in the Bible or Quran that can back this up. He wants us united. Remember, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” When all of us do this, peace will come. It is inevitable. God or Allah wants us all to tithe what we have. He knows exactly what we possess materially, and He knows exactly where the treasures are. Ask and it is given. Increase your faith. Without faith, it is impossible to please the Lord.
With depression, there is a feeling that you have a lack of something. This pervasive feeling is real, and I have been there. For fifty-one years, I could not imagine feeling joy. Try as I might, I did not succeed. Think on this, I had perseverance to keep trying. Keep in mind that until I succeeded, I had no taste of success, of joy. I can feel these now, and I have not had any suicidal thoughts for over ten years. I am giving back by empowering you, to convince you that you can do it too. Never give up. Keep on trucking. Throw out thoughts of anger, of hatred, and of intolerance. Embrace thoughts of kindness, tolerance, compassion, patience, forgiveness, love, peace, productivity, generosity, faith, righteousness, and perseverance in the face of adversity.
I believe that being a united force, we shall succeed in shifting your thinking to these positive thoughts. Songs are written on this. For example, “The House of the Rising Sun”, made popular by The Animals, was a song that I related to when it came out. And when I needed to, I would soak up the comfort of relating to it again and again over the years because it helped my depression lift with the comfort it gave me. This song gave me unity: I was not alone.
Find for yourself, a positive thinking song. You can look this up. So much has already been created for us to access whenever we want to. God or Allah—or whatever you conceive the Almighty to be—has set everything in place. Imagine the vastness of all these! These messages have been given to you subliminally. That is why the Bible or Quran tells us to open our eyes and our ears. Look for the subliminal messages in all that you see.
Currently in North America and around the world, there are two schools of thought. One is the resurgence of the far-right movements and the other is the protestation of this intolerant view. Racial exclusivity is an unkind view. It is the opposite of love and unity. Rise up. Embrace love and inclusion in your thinking, grow your own faith for a positive outcome to all this chaos, and throw out negative thoughts.
Takeaway tip: Foster Love. This is the key that will open doors for you.
Next week, I will write on camaraderie. Do you have good friends that you can share your truest feelings with? Finding like-minded souls is crucial to our mental health.
